Thank you for all your wonderful content Christa! I have a tipping question. My husband and I are considering hiring a private shuttle to transport the two of us plus a bicycle from Jaco to Punta Uva (we were quoted $450, 6.5 hours). What would you consider to be an appropriate tip for the driver?

Hi Linda,
You can automatically stay for 90 days with a tourist visa, but that is the maximum you can stay without another type of visa. Grecia is lovely! ~Pura vida!

Christina,

My sister is travelling to Costa Rica this August 2022. I read women there are period products deprived(luxury tax and expensive) as with many others countries including the USA.
Since she will not leave the resort except for a possible excursions. She is not a adventurous or willing to taxi to a near-by high school or community outreach office.

My thought was to make zip lock bags with some regular size tampons, liners and the flat size pads. Also hard to find decent face wash. Aveeno small size lotion as a moisturizer. I use it and it is nice.

What do you think about this? My sister will leave a bag on the bed each morning for housekeeping staff which may be either gender but it will get to the right person somehow. She will do this for the 3 mornings of stay and not on the end where only one person may benefit. If only on person is assigned to her room which is quite possible then that’s great.
I always tip daily because I don’t always get the same person. Depends on where I stay.

One last thing. I assembly bags for the homeless here at home. I always include a hand written note card with cash. I would like to do this in this case.
I will try to get Colons so she or he won’t have to make their way to an exchange office.

That’s my story and I’m sticking with. o:)
