After my recent trip to Costa Rica I wanted to recreate the Frijoles Molidos that I had while I was there. I was happy to find your website and the recipes I needed. I cooked the black beans and made the salsa Lizano following your recipes. With that done I then went ahead to make the Frijoles Molidos. The result was way to salty. The beans and salsa tasted fine by themselves. My recommendation is do not add salt to the Frijoles Molidos until after the blender step and then only to taste. Fortunately, I have enough beans and salsa to try it one more time.

Hi Lisa!

Thank you so much for commenting! I’m getting ready to update this recipe and I’ll add your notes for canned beans- they definitely have more sodium so you do need less salt. And yes- don’t need much for the liquid from the beans when canned either because they are soft. I’m so glad you brought this up and I’ll make the adjustments in the update! Delish but a few changes for next time. I used canned beans. IndrIned some liquid out of them but it still made the dip too runny. Even heated hoping to thicken. Next time I‘ll drain the cans. Also, too salty. Half the salt next time. We loved it with chips, tacos and margaritas!
